What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is an immersive, meditative experience where yogis are “bathed” in the sounds and vibrations of the instruments being played. I use chimes and various metal sound bowls to create different depths of tones to create a deeply relaxing experience.
The frequency of the vibrations interacts with the body’s energy fields and influencing brainwaves. There comes a shift from active beta waves to alpha, theta or delta waves that are associated with relaxation and a meditative state.
What do we gain from them?
Recent studies have emerged that suggest that sound baths like other sound therapy, reduce anxiety, stress and depression, and bring about a sense of calm, relaxation and enhanced mental clarity. Sound baths can also aid in better sleep quality through deep relaxation.
Since sound baths are more passive and accessible, it can be easier to get into a meditative state than when participating in other forms of meditation.
